File Cabinet

Version 2

Readme:

Supported Operating Systems: XP AND 2000

The developer has written the "File Cabinet" program to accomplish two major objectives for the user- to easily hide their personal files/folders and, when needed, easily access these hidden items. There are no "bells and whistles" included. This is the freeware version of a program named "File Cabinets". There are no restrictions in this freeware version. It is a fully operational program.
--------

Installation:
Run the File Cabinet setup file and a "File Cabinet" shortcut group will be created in your Start Menu's Programs list. Locate the FileFolder Cabinet shortcut in this shortcut group. This shortcut can be copied and pasted anywhere you would like. The setup procedure is straight forward so installation will probably only take you a moment or two.

The File Cabinet program is installed in the Program Files directory located under the user's profile.

YOUR "FILE CABINET" WILL BE LOCATED IN YOUR PROFILE FOLDERS. LOOK FOR YOUR PROFILE FOLDERS IN THE "Documents and Settings" FOLDER ON C:\Drive. YOUR "FILE CABINET CONTENTS" FOLDER WILL BE IN THE SAME PLACE WHEN THE FILE CABINET IS UNLOCKED.

Once the program has been run, if you want, you can move the "File Cabinet" shortcut group, located in the Start Menu's Programs list, to a more secure location of your choosing. If you think your situational factors require it, you may want to encrypt, or otherwise protect, the File Cabinet program "Readme". Titlebar Software does have a freeware file encryption utility available at... www.titlebar.net.

File Cabinets:

File Cabinet is a program for hiding/protecting your personal files and folders. Use a test folder to experiment with and test the "Lock" and "Unlock" buttons. Your test folder can be placed in the "File Cabinet Contents" folder and the hidden in the "File Cabinet" folder using the Lock button. Your folder, and its contents, will truly be inside the "cabinet" folder. Use Unlock to make the test folder visible once again.

Right-click on the "File Cabinet" folder containing several test items' then select properties and take a look at the "Size". The size of the Cabinet folder will confirm that the Cabinet contains your personal folder, and its contents.

Uninstall:
go to "Programs and Features" in the Control Panel and locate the "File Cabinet" program on the list. Click on it to highlight it and click "Uninstall". All files and folders are removed by the uninstall procedure.
